As a Lecturio member, you can upgrade or downgrade the duration of your membership and/or the membership plan itself directly in your “Plans & Billing” section.
Please note the following for Web purchases:
- Upgrades (e.g., from Basic to Premium): The upgrade takes effect immediately.
- Downgrades (e.g., from Premium to Basic or a shorter billing cycle): The change becomes effective on the date of the next renewal.
How to change plans
- Open your “Plans & Billing” page and click on “Change Plan”.
- You will see your current plan and how the other plans compare in duration and/or terms of features and cost savings.
- Select the desired change:
- Switching to a shorter membership cycle (Downgrade): The change will take effect at the end of your current billing period. You will be redirected to the “Plans & Billing” page, where you can view details of your upcoming plan.
- Switching to a longer membership cycle or upgrading from Basic to Premium: The change will take effect immediately. The new plan cost will be reduced based on the time remaining in your current cycle. If the credit exceeds the new plan’s cost, the remaining balance will be applied to future invoices. These credits cannot be paid out.

Special Case: Switching from Basic to Premium with a shorter billing cycle
- For example, if you switch from a 12-month Basic membership to a shorter Premium cycle (3 months), the 12-month Premium price will be used as the baseline for calculation.
- You will start a new 12-month Premium membership and after 12 months, the shorter Premium cycle (3 months) will take effect.
- This ensures you gain full Premium access right away while aligning the billing periods efficiently.

Special case: Switching from Premium to Basic with a longer billing cycle
- For example, if you switch from a 3-month Premium membership to a longer Basic cycle (12-month), the change will take effect at the end of your current billing period. You will be redirected to the “Plans & Billing” page, where you can view details of your upcoming plan.
- For Upgrades only: Click on “Confirm Change” to finalize your decision. The change will be reflected in your “Plans & Billing" section.
- For downgrades, changes to Premium with a shorter billing period than you had initially chosen for your Basic membership, or for changes from Premium to a longer Basic billing period, your new membership plan will now be displayed as Upcoming Plan in your account settings under “Plans & Billing”.
How to remove a scheduled change
If you have an upcoming plan, you can manage it in the “Plans & Billing” section:
- Click on “Manage Subscription”.
- Go to “View Scheduled Changes” to see details.
- Select “Remove Scheduled Changes” if you wish to cancel the pending adjustment and "Confirm".
If you do not wish to continue with your membership at all, i. e., also not change a plan as scheduled, please cancel your membership as described here.
Memberships purchased via Apple Store or Google Play
If you purchased your membership through the Lecturio app via Apple store or Google Play, all plan changes must be made directly through those platforms. Click on “Settings” and select “Manage subscriptions”. You will be guided through the process.
Please refer to their respective guidelines for managing subscriptions:
- iOS: You get charged for the new plan, and you will get a prorated refund for the previous subscription
- Android: The value of the previous plan gets converted into a time extension of the new subscription
